Pipe-laying project completed
A&P Tyne Ltd, part of A&P Group, has recently completed the conversion
of a newbuild offshore support vessel into a pipelaying vessel, for Subsea 7.
A
n
ewly converted 130m pipe-laying
vessel, Normand Seven, will shortly
depart for Brazil to complete a
contract laying flexible pipelines to a water
depth of 2000m for Subsea 7.
The task for the team at A&P Tyne was to
install and commission all the operational pipe-
laying equipment in an aggressive timeframe
– the steel structures required to support this
equipment and provide a working platform
were over 800tonnes in weight alone.
To achieve this deadline the vessel was
carefully surveyed whilst under construction Normand Seven’s conversion took place at A&P Tyne’s Hebburn drydock facility.
in Norway. The structures were fabricated
and extensively outfitted in smaller modules
prior to the vessel’s arrival at A&P Tyne. This of key operational partners. prefabricated modules and the pipe-laying
was only possible by utilising A&P’s project Once the vessel was in drydock, the equipment then had to be positioned with
management team and extensive fabrication modules, weighing up to 250tonnes each, millimetre accuracy to ensure optimum
