“God will do for me what I cannot do for myself, but He will
not do for me what I can do for myself” is an axiom often heard in

It is important for us to know that we aren’t
heard because of our performance, or because of
our perfection. We aren’t heard because of our
participation in church. We are heard simply because we
have a passionate desire to come into God’s presence.
Listen to the advice given by James:
Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for
one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fer-
vent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Elijah was
a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly
that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land
for three years and six months. And he prayed again,
and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its
fruit (5:16-18, NKJV).
