One of the worlds most exotic
destinations...
We are delighted to present a fine choice
of holidays for golfers and non golfers
alike to this stunning island known by
some as “Paradise on Earth”.
Situated on a parallel to Cape Town in
the Indian Ocean and south east of
Madagascar, the island lies outside the
cyclone belt, so tropical storms are very rare and the
weather is tropical marine. This means that temperatures
are hottest between November to April 25 – 36 c and cooler
from May to October 19 – 28 c. The best months for golfers
always seem to be April, May, June, September and October, as
the prices are great value and it is never too hot. However, the peak
season is November to March. Mid July to the end of August is the
coolest time to visit.
the history
The island was first developed by the Dutch in 1598,
who introduced sugar cane but had the dubious honour
of destroying the ebony tree forests and killing off the legendary
dodo birds.
The island’s name came from the Dutch Prince, Maurice de Nassau.
The French then had a century of power, which shaped the islands
language and culture before the Brits supremacy in India, extended
into Mauritius. This left the island with an eclectic mix of an official
English language but where French is extensively used mixed with the
common man’s language Creole. Driving is on the left, the currency is
the rupee and the cuisine is a fascinating mix, combining curries,
Chinese dishes (there is a heavy Chinese influence), world famous
French gourmet cuisine and the typical Creole, rougaille.
what’s new
3D Golf are proud to feature all the new resorts in Mauritius offering
the golfing visitor the finest selection of hotels, resorts and golf courses.
The old favourite of Belle Mare Plage continues to be the most popular

on the south coast is very similar value on a half board basis.
The fabulous Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort at Bel Ombre is maturing into
one of the very best. The latest additions of the Hilton Mauritius Resort
& Spa on the west coast, with inclusive golf on the amazing Tamarina
course, is complimented by an amazing new Ernie Els golf
development opening at Christmas (Anahita World Sanctuary), with
two bedroom luxury apartments on site.
The classy Le Prince Maurice, just north of Belle Mare also offers free
golf on the Links & Legends courses, whilst Le Touessrok now owned
by Sun Resorts instead of One&Only, continues to excel with its
Bernhard Langer island course.
