BOLTON Sailing Club has adopted Jeans for
Genes as their charity for 2007. Throughout the
year the club will raise money for the charity
through a series of competitive sailing and club
events.
Jeans for Genes is a national charity which funds
research into the causes and treatments of genetic
disorders in children and is best known for its
annual Jeans for Genes Day when millions of
people ditch the usual dress code and wear jeans in
exchange for a small donation. This year Jeans for

50th anniversary
bash gets the OK
THE UK Association for the OK Dinghy celebrated the 50th
Anniversary of this popular single-handed dinghy at the Upper Thames
Sailing Club in June. Enthusiasts who have been involved with build-
ing or sailing this boat came from around the UK to celebrate in style
on the banks of the Thames at Bourne End.
Upper Thames Sailing Club now has the largest OK Class
membership in the UK and these boats can usually be seen racing
every Sunday morning.
The anniversary weekend attracted more than 35 boats, so the racing
was extremely competitive. A team of young sailors from the home
club won the fun relay race on the Saturday when Wooburn Green
twins Tom and Sam Preston were joined by Alex Holbern and Julian
Burnham. The main social event of the weekend was a pig roast dinner
followed by speeches from various class dignatories relating stories
from the early days of OK sailing.
The main racing event on the Sunday was a series of three races for
the Yeatman Bowl. This was won by Nick Craig from Frensham Pond
