Welsh Recruitment: As Centre owner of Pitman Training what are your Main roles and responsibilities?
Mark Loosemore: As Centre owner, I am responsible for setting our strategic objectives and business plan, and agreeing action plans with the Centre Manager. I am also ultimately responsible for the welfare of our staff, students and other visitors to the Centre.
Welsh Recruitment: What training services does Pitman Training provide and how is it different from other training providers?
Mark Loosemore: We provide a range of secretarial, business and IT skills courses. These include, for example, a legal secretary diploma and an executive PA diploma, as well as technical IT courses such as MCSE Certification. We also still provide keyboard skills and shorthand courses that the Pitman Training name is famous for - updated of course for the 21st century! The main differences are twofold. First, our courses are backed by the Pitman Training name, which employers love, second, the way we deliver the training means people have a huge amount of flexibility.
Welsh Recruitment: Many people who work full time with a family feel they don’t have time to attend training courses, what facilities do you provide for the modern busy professional?
Mark Loosemore: Our centre and our courses are ideal for these people. We offer a modern, comfortable training environment in Cardiff city centre. Our courses are predominantly computer-based, with no set start and finish times, so people study when they want and for as long as they want. Everyone works at their own pace, guided by a tutor and supported by our centre supervisors.
