he regional finals of the Magners’ Welsh Neath qualifiers
Handicap Team championships are wellT
underway with several events already having
been decided.
In the first event, held over the wonderful but
demanding links of Borth & Ynyslas, sixty-eight
golfers from across the region battled it out for a
place in the final. The action on the course saw
the team from Llandrindod Wells Golf Club of
Phillip Evans, Mike Dinwoodie, Glen Thomas andHarry Jaakola, Trefloyne
Tony Price complete a memorable victory finish-
ing first. Phil Evans commented on their success:
"We are delighted to have won today’s regional
final, this is a fantastic competition for amateur
golfers across Wales and we are already looking
forward to competing in the grand final at Celtic
Manor."
The team from Welshpool finished second and
secured one other qualifying place for the grand

On Sunday 18 May fifty-nine golfers travelledDavies from Radyr
to Morlais Castle for two more places in the final.
This time the teams from Trefloyne and
Carmarthen Golf Clubs managed to gain qualifi-
cation into the grand final. The regional final that
was played at INCO Golf Club saw the team from
