Welcome
How to use this guide
Whether you’re on holiday, taking a short break or simply wanting a day out
from home, freedomdays can put you in touch with a wealth of options. Just
about every type of interest is catered for, from castles to cathedrals, railways,
museums, gardens or even a tour.
We might be able to introduce you to something new such as ice-skating, go-
karting or even brass-rubbing! Of course, there’s always a spot of shopping or a
train ride, topped off with a meal or snack or a visit to a farmers market. It’s all
here...
Our environment is something we should all care about for future generations, so
a visit to a wildlife or wildfowl sanctuary, country park or heritage site can bring
you both satisfaction in supporting a good cause and a great experience.
How to get the best from the freedomdays guide
To help you quickly choose if you already have an idea as to the type of
attraction you would like to visit, or the children are determined to drag you off
to, we’ve come up with a series of categories to make it easy for you. Simply
check the Our Themes Explained opposite and the rest is easy. The theme symbol
shown will be the attraction’s main area of interest. There may be other activities
available. If you want lots to choose from at one venue, we can help, or if there
are a lot of you and the pennies have to be watched, Admission Under a Fiver
is the one.
We can’t include everything in this guide, so we have produced a series of
guides covering the whole country. See page 38 for more details.
The guide is split into 3 regions with each entry listed in alphabetical order.
1. North Wales
2. Mid Wales
3. South Wales
We have listed some information at the beginning of each section you may fi nd
useful, such as places to stay, Tourist Information Centres, travel information and
local radio stations. There is also a map with each attraction’s location shown by
a map number (which you can fi nd in the advert).
