IT was a life-changing moment for Roz when she finally admitted to herself that life as a management consultant was not the rewarding career she had anticipated.
She says: “I started my transition from office worker to ocean rower when I joined up the dots in my life. I looked at how I was living each day and asked, is this taking me where I want to get to or not?
“I realised it wasn’t at that stage. The interesting life I wanted wasn’t where I was heading for which, for me, was how I came to my position on the environment as well.
“I thought, if we carry on like this, we’re not going to end up with the kind of planet I would feel comfortable living on.
“The two things went hand in hand. Changing the way I was running my life, and changing the way that I was behaving towards the planet.
“It’s just that kind of mindfulness, that awareness, and bringing some common sense to it all and asking: if we continue like this are we going to end up where we want to be?
“But also in knowing it’s in our power to change track and start heading in a different direction.
“I’m not perfect, but I always do my best, and I think that’s all any of us can be expected to do.”
