He spent the fi rst part of the season fi lling
in for the injured James with the four, but
wants to play a part in moving the eight up

“The eight is the fastest boat
so it is aggressive rowing...”
“The eight is the fastest boat so it is
aggressive rowing, you have got to be sharp
and explosive which is why I enjoy it,” he said.
“It is quite a short race compared to some
so you have got to get into it.
“I started at Monmouth school, I just saw
people rowing on the river and thought I
would have a go. It turned out I was quite
good at it.
“My coach always saw potential and he
motivated me to train hard to reach the top.
Now going to the Olympics is really exciting,
but we do not just want to reach the fi nal we
want to come away with a good medal.”
