This survey was conducted at 357 sites and was not blinded or randomized. The control group received commercially available European DHA/ARA
non-supplemented formulas and a few infants who received formulas supplemented with lower levels of DHA and ARA than the DHA+ (LIPIL group).
Whether formulas supplemented with lower levels or different sources of DHA or ARA would have shown similar results was not tested.
