The year 2007 is proving to be a watershed one for South African
hedge funds. Never has there been a more important time for clear,
open and honest debate in this fast-evolving industry.
The first South AfricaHedge Symposium, to be held at the ArabellaSheraton Grand Hotel in
Cape Town on December 6, offers a unique closed-door opportunity for managers,
investors and service providers to get together and debate the issues close to their hearts.
‘Sustaining Excellence’ is the theme of this year’s inaugural event. Having come through its
formative years with an enviable reputation and strong performance record, the
Symposium provides an opportunity for the South African industry to step back and
examine its progress, and to consider the way forward. This comes during a tumultuous
time for the hedge fund industry globally, and with unprecedented levels of investor interest
in managers based in this part of the world.
Keynote speakers George Case, Kevin Gundle and Ken Kinsey-Quick are uniquely
positioned to provide insight into events and trends in the global hedge fund industry.
In a series of panel sessions, industry players will debate key issues. Hedge-fund failures,
increased regulation, fast-changing markets, the emergence of new strategies – these and
other important subjects will be up for discussion.
The speaker list is predominantly comprised of hedge fund managers and multi-managers.
The aim is to bring together seasoned industry veterans and next-generation managers,
