W
hether you need to monitor water flows or water levels, e-
SENSE, available exclusively from Van Walt Ltd is the latest off-
the-shelf, plug and play telemetry system which will also
provide an early warning alarm direct to a PC or designated mobile
telephone – ideal for flood warnings.
“This system is cutting-edge technology,” says Vincent Van Walt, managing

modern solution to the sometimes very complex problem of monitoring
water and it’s particularly relevant in the wake of the continuing floods
experienced in the UK.”
e-SENSE technology is suitable for monitoring surface water levels and
flow rates to improve water systems, nature management and development
purposes. When installed on-site it is lockable and resistant to theft and
vandalism. Systems are available in different lengths and can be installed as
stand alone units or as part of a complete telemetry system.
“We recently installed this system on behalf of Network Rail to monitor
water levels in culverts alongside mainline railway tracks in Warwickshire.
The system included the early warning alarm function, so should drainage
water rise to a level that might cause a flood to the surrounding area,
maintenance teams can be dispatched to clear any blockages and avert
potential disruptions to the adjacent rail network,” explains Vincent.
Van Walt believes this system will play an increasingly vital role in
monitoring and warning vulnerable communities against the threat of floods
because it can help people minimise damage to their homes and property.
The company is doing everything it can to ensure as many people as
possible within local authorities, the environment agency, emergency
planning groups and insurance companies are aware of the technology
