80 and 81, who, as often happens with
keeping family histories, weren’t that
interested and didn’t have much to offer
me. I ended up having to find a lot of the
material on my own.”
Still, Guenther, who was urged to write
about the past by a former employee of the
resort, found the whole process so enriching
and rewarding he is already planning to
gather up the biographies of the people who
worked at the resort over the decades.
“I feel such a real connection to the
Murrieta Hot Springs resort, all its history
and the people who were there,” he said.
“It’s like trying to imprint the phantoms of
