A NOTE FROM THE PUBLISHER
Just the word ‘bookkeeping’ is enough to put many people off. But these
days, many small business owners and self-employed people are fi nding
that a grounding in a few accounting and bookkeeping basics gives them an
edge in business. Whilst not intended to replace your accountant, this Go
Guide will provide you with a basic understanding of the essential records
that need to be kept and monitored by small and home business owners and
operators. By using jargon-free language and easy to follow examples, this
Guide will help you understand just what all those reports and forecasts
mean – and what they signify about the health of your business.
As with all our Go Guides we aim to bring you the most useful information
in the least number of pages — who has time to read lengthy books? This
book will give you quick access to the information, ideas and skills you
need to know without the padding contained in so many self-help books.
If you have any comments on how this book could be improved, please do
not hesitate to email me at
