humble pole elastic (or PowerGum here in the

US). I use is the fluorescent green stuff that is
available from Match fishing tackle suppliers or fly
tiers. I tie a Four-Turn Grinner Knot around the
main line, pulling the elastic nice and tight and
trim the ends about 1cm from the knot.
It is important to remember that your main line
should be tight when fixing the elastic to the line. I
like to attach the elastic so that it sits opposite the
spigot on the rod. Some anglers like to have it
next to the tip ring, but it’s hard too see in the
dark.
You must remember to stand in exactly the
same spot each time, otherwise you’ll end up over
casting your baited area or landing within the
branches and fishing for tree fish! If you need to
re-bait, just put the marker knot opposite the
spigot, put the line under the clip and wind in.
Oh, and Finally
Once you have re-cast and with your indicators
set, it’s easy to see if you have to put the lead in
exactly the same spot again by where the little
green knot ends up. Another advantage to using
the pole elastic is that it’s very easy to remove,
