Some assembly required
A local Chandler company assisted the Red Bull
Worldwide Air Races held in Monument Valley recently.
Chandler Air Service, located at the Chandler Municipal
Airport, helped the regional air race in Northern Arizona
by offering a hangar so the special aircraft could be
assembled. These types of aircraft are smaller so that they
can be raced in time trials and do aerobatic stunts.
The 30 crew members came in with 13 race planes
fresh from a race in Brazil. Local pilot Kirby Chambliss,
who fl ies for Southwest Airlines, took fourth place in the
Red Bull race.
After Monument Valley, the planes were
disassembled and crated up for a long journey to
Istanbul, Turkey for their next venure. To learn more
