Farewell bid to Jerry Biondi

It was standing room only for the recent funeral services of
Jerry Biondi, popular owner of the Country Clipper barbershop,
at the Valley of the Sun Cemetery and Mortuary.
The chapel was packed and the lobby held an overflow of
friends, family and Chandler business owners who came to
pay their respects following Biondi’s sudden death May 11 at
age 59. Many wore black T-shirts that said “In loving memory
of Jerry Biondi, 2007.”
Biondi, who organized an annual car and hot rod show in
downtown Chandler for several years to benefit nonprofits,
was remembered by Valley of the Sun’s Steve Mora and
Michael Hawkins as one who loved children and “who had a
passion for people.”
“He did more than cut hair,” said Hawkins. “He did more
than raise $45 million for charities. He did more than love
cars.”
Outside the chapel, a bright, shiny red hotrod sat in the
parking lot, decorated with
flowers and a photo of Biondi,
an Army veteran who served in
Viet Nam.
