Where there’s smoke, there’s fi re
The Chandler Fire Department has several “live
burns” – setting fi re to vacant homes scheduled for
demolition – on the agenda this summer.
“The advantage of lives burns is that the conditions
can be controlled,” explains CFD Battalion Chief Dan
Couch. “The fi res can be restarted several times and
will provide valuable training to fi refi ghters.”
The homes, located on Oregon Street south
of Chicago Street, have been inspected by an
environmental specialist and are free of hazardous
materials and chemicals. Safety offi cers remain on
scene at all times.
Burns are scheduled for July 25, 26 and 31 from 8:30
to 11 a.m.
