The cobla is a traditional music ensemble of Catalonia. It is generally used to
accompany the Sardana, a traditional Catalan folk dance, danced in a circle. In
Barcelona, capital of Catalonia, in the summer time, one can often see cobla
performances in open outdoor squares, with dozens of Catalonians mixed with
tourists dancing the Sardana, their purses and backpacks placed on the ground within
the circle. Cobla Sant Jordi Ciutat de Barcelona (the offi cial cobla of the city) is one
of the best Catalan groups that plays the traditional Catalan Sardana. T_h e group was
formed in 1983 and with this recording they are celebrating their 25th anniversary.

Moussu T e lei jovents, the fi nest band ever to come from La Ciotat (!) return
with another slice of Occitan wit and wisdom. Home Sweet Home is the band’s
third proper studio album and continues in the same vein as their previous work
– i.e., gloriously catchy, melodic, quirky, funny, dark, poignant, gritty. Singing as
usual mainly in the Occitan language, the band again invoke the heat and intensity
of Marseille and its neighbor, the band’s hometown, La Ciotat. Forever Polida was
a huge surprise hit in 2006 and this new album is sure to increase the momentum.
