Employers also look for employees that are
active in extracurricular activities. VITA participation
illustrates that the student is community service
oriented. In addition, the student is an active
participant on the CSUN campus.
Participation in VITA also expands a student’s
network. Students meet others who are community

activists, community leaders, students outside of
their major, and CPA firm members.
VITA is a student run program. Students
participate by enrolling in various VITA courses. The
level of one’s involvement determines which class to
enroll. First time participants enroll as preparers
while returning students may enroll as supervisors or
coordinators.
Cathy Jeppson is the Director of VITA and Donna
Watkins is the VITA Program Coordinator, both
oversee the students and offer advice as needed.
