Q: My son begins his A Levels next year but seems indecisive about
which subjects to take. I think he should do what he enjoys but my
husband believes certain subjects will be better for when he applies
to Universities. Can you advise?
A: This is not quite as easy as it looks. My advice is always to select those
subjects that you enjoy rather than those that you happen to have done well
in at GCSE, but if you have particular careers in mind, or particular university
aspirations, they obviously need to be taken into account.
