This is an idea that is rapidly growing in popularity - not least because it promises substantial
weight loss in a short space of time. The Holy Grail of all dieters!
Fat Loss 4 Idiots is an online diet generator that will accept input regarding your favorite foods and
produce you 11 days worth of meals, all calorie-and-fat counted. That's a good idea - after all, the
worst part of dieting is having to think about what to have for your next meal - so much so that
sometimes it's tempting not to bother eating at all to try and shift the excess weight.
Or else your diet plan requires foods you've never heard of, or the drinking of endless "meal
replacement" shakes which taste like leftover wallpaper paste and leave you so hungry that you mug
kiddies for candy.
Fat Loss 4 Idiots claims to be different. The advertising talks about The Shifting Calories Theory
and that the secret of weight loss is to keep your body guessing by eating different foods, because
your body gets used to eating the same foods in the same order and therefore does not burn them
off.
The idea of this diet, so they say, is to unlock your body's Fat-Burning Hormones, so that all the
food you eat is burned off and not stored as fat. Well, that bit actually makes sense and is true - if
you eat foods with a low GI count (the rate at which food is absorbed into your system) your body
is more likely to use the food as fuel instead of hanging on to it.
No surprise then, that low GI foods are healthy choices - most vegetables are low GI, as are starchy
carbs such as brown rice and wholegrain pasta. Your body absorbs these foods slowly and you feel
fuller for longer and less likely to pig out. I've never yet met anyone who was tempted to madly
overeat oatmeal porridge, but give them a supersize Big Mac and there was no stopping them!
So Fat Loss 4 Idiots designs you 11 days of healthy meals; 4 meals a day, eaten at regular intervals.
Protein is lean meats, fish and veggie options such as pulses, carbs are low GI, dairy is low fat and
not too much of it.
There is the odd glass of wine, but no processed or junk food. Despite the rather dodgy Theories,
you will most definitely lose fat with this diet. And you also get a Handbook filled with Fat-Loss
tips and exercise ideas (essential for keeping the pounds off), so for $39, it's a good deal.
It's basically a reduced-calorie diet that encourages healthy food choices. Whether you'll lose 9lb in
11 days, as the hype claims, is slightly over the top, but you are sure to see some reduction in both
the scales and your size. And because you'll be eating healthy foods regularly, you'll start looking
good and feeling great!
