Walking on Water by Liz Strauss SAMPLE PAGES

Late Bloomers

A friend who passed a landmark birthday a year ago. She didn’t
realized it at the time, but it bothered her now. She kept calling herself
a “late bloomer.”
What’s a “late bloomer” anyway? I’ve never heard anyone call a flower
a “late bloomer.”
Flowers bloom when they’re meant to. Some show before the snow
melts. Some come in early spring, some in mid-summer. Some are fall
blooms. Move south and spring flowers become winter color.
We grow at exactly the rate we know and keep growing. We’re tall,
short, and uniquely beautiful with our own tints and hues.

Flowers don’t bloom all at once or for each other. They bloom when
they’re meant to. Some bloom once. Some are perennial.
Not late . . . always blooming.
