Dear~'MI Partners and Friends, ( "
Well, my life has changed forever. At the ripe old age of 45, I am finally a father! Our precious daughter, Please remember
Li'el Gabriella Bernis was born on Resurrection Sunday, March 27, 2005 at 8:19pro. She weighed a whop- to pray for Jonathan
ping 8 lbs. 4 oz. and measured 19.5 inches long. The birth experience was nothing short of

for May & water finally broke around 10am on Sunday morning and we were off and running to the hospital.
June 2005: Once confirmed that her water had, indeed broken, we settled in for the experience, and things moved
along very quickly. The actual transitional labor (the really hard part) took 45 minutes to an hour. Al- May 1-6
though we had gone through a 5 week birthing course together that covered the various forms of "correct" Dallas, TX
breathing, all that seemed to fall by the wayside when the heavy labor began! As the 'coach,' all I can TJCII Conference
remember was yelling push, push, push/from contraction to contraction. And with each push, a little
more of our daughter's tiw head appeared! Finally, the doctor was able to give a quick tug and out came May 12-13

Road To Jerusalem Theological For almost three hours she just stared around the room quietly. No crying, no complaining, just a peaceful
Summit look of wonder on her face. And holding her that first time, that apparent look of recognition on her face
as she heard my
voice...it was an experience I will never forget as long as i live/ May 21-24
Needless to say, things have changed around the Bernis household these last three weeks. Sleep is now Ft. Lauderdale, Florida
a luxury and for this season, life revolves around our little daughter. I am learning so much about the MJBI Board Meeting
fatherhood of God through this experience. Little Li'el Gabriella can do nothing at this stage in her life
but 'eat, sleep and poop.' But we don't love her for what she can do for us; we love her because of who she June 10-11
is, period. We love her because she is our daughter, our flesh and blood and she is precious in our sight. Orlando, Florida
She is absolutely helpless on her own, yet that very dependence endears her to us. It is the same in our Road To Jerusalem Conference
relationship with the Lord. He loves us not because of what we do, but rather because of who we are, His
adopted and redeemed child. And our utter and complete dependence on Him endears us to Him all the
more. This causes Him to respond, as any earthly parent does, with a greater desire to nurture and provide
for our every need.
I could go on and on pouring my heart out about my new experience with fatherhood...but I do want
to say a word about this edition of Jewish Voice Today. We've devoted this issue to a topic that you will be
hearing much more about in the months to come.., a doctrine called Replacement Theology, also referred
to as the "Doctrine of Spiritual Israel" or "Supereessionism." The reason you will be hearing more from us
about this false doctrine is because this dangerous lie is again growing in popularity within some circles.
Although nothing new, the idea that God is finished with the Jewish People and has "replaced" them with
the Christian Church has resurfaced in connection with the raging debate about the Jewish People's bibli-
cal right to the Land of Israel. According to some misguided teachers: "If God has rejected the Jewish
People because of their rejection of Jesus, then they no longer have any claim to the Land of Israel."
And many are buying into this lie! The dangerous lie of Replacement Theology is both contrary to
Scripture and contrary to the very character of God Himself.
Our mission and mandate at Jewish Voice is twofold: first and foremost to proclaim Jesus, the
Messiah to the Jewish People as well as the Nations of the world. But our second mandate and mission
is to educate the Church about God's faithfulness to - and prophetic plan for - Israel and the Jewish
People. Replacement Theology is a direct, demonic attack against this plan of God for the restoration
I of the Jewish People and the Land of Israel, and we will do everything possible to confront this false
teaching whenever and wherever God enables us to! ~~
