Financial Aid and Scholarships
Financial aid is a critical part of our mission as a Jesuit univer-
sity. Nearly 70 percent of our students receive some form of aid, the
vast majority of which is based on need. We also offer the Magis
Scholarship, our merit scholarship for outstanding applicants. The
Magis Scholarship is a $20,000 annual award, which is renewable
for four years providing students maintain a GPA of 3.0. Successful
candidates have an outstanding record of academic and personal
achievement in high school. All applicants are automatically consid-
ered for the Magis scholarship.

That 'ohana spirit
Being so far from home, I was a little
worried about what I would do dur-
ing long weekends and vacations.
Luckily, from the very first day of
school, I got invitations from people
who barely even knew me to stay over their
homes over the holidays. My friends here have become
'ohana – “like family”, as we say in Hawai'i.
Why he’s now famous
I’m a huge fan of Macs, and graphic design and photogra-
phy are my passions. So over Christmas break when the
swim team was in Puerto Rico, I shot a music video of the
Fairfield swimmers and divers with my video camera. Some
of my teammates didn’t want to be in at first but changed
their minds when they saw how much fun we were all hav-
ing. Then they couldn’t stop asking me about when it would
be finished.
What the future might hold
I’m really interested in bioinformatics, a field that combines
my biology and computer science majors. I once mentioned
to my biology professor that I was interested in doing an
internship at a lab in Japan and she made a connection for
me, just like that. For a professor to remember not only the
academic but also the personal interests of her students real-
ly shows how much she cares.
