Intro
LEE McDONALD: Welcome to today’s webinar on insurance producers and today’s specialty insurance market. We’ve got a very strong lineup and some good discussion ahead of us. We’ve also got a lot of people from the insurance industry attending this event – 1,000 to be exact. We reached capacity on Go-To-Webinar system this morning and that’s all we can get. I called Go-To-Webinar and that’s what they permit you, so if you’re familiar with anyone who tried to get in and couldn’t, please tell them that we’re going to be having a full transcript and video coverage up in several days and we’ll be putting out some announcements for that as well. Thank you to those who did register with us and we’re really looking forward to a good presentation.
Today joining me are some prominent and well-known industry participants, all of whom of members and active in different ways with the National Association of Surplus Lines Offices with whom we’re doing this presentation, that’s known as NAPSLO, of course.
We have Tony Markel, vice chairman of Markel. We’ll be hearing more from him in about a minute. We have Chris Treanor; he’s president and CEO of Mercator Risk Services. We have E.G. Lassiter, he’s chairman and CEO of RSUI Group. And from A.M. Best Company we have Dan Ryan; he’s vice president in our property/casualty rating division.
Before we get into the presentation, I just want to do a little bit of housekeeping and mention there are a lot of people on this call, and it is an interactive session, so to participate on the Go-To-Webinar tool, there’s a question box and we ask that that’s how you submit your questions. We won’t be unmuting anyone who’s on computer audio. But we have a very busy presentation and we’re going to try to get to as many questions as we can and sometimes we’ll consolidate or just update some of that questions if we get multiple comments or questions on the same topic. And we’ll do our best to recognize all the appropriate questions.
In a moment we’re going to get into an overview of the state of the surplus lines industry with Dan, but first I’d like to hear from our panel. So, we’ll just run through our three non-A.M. Best guests right now. Tony - can you just fill us in on a little bit about yourself and explain what Market is?
