I want to tell you a story

For those of us old enough to remember (and sadly I am) this catchphrase immortalised by the late Max Bygraves, you will probably agree that we all have a story to tell of our own. As a writer, I often dream of seeing my writing performed on the big screen. But how do you make the leap from paper to big screen and, can anyone do it? Actually, yes.

If you have a story to tell about Wales but haven’t got the first clue how to go about it, then help is at hand. TAPS Cymru is looking for budding new writers to train for TV, film and other media writing at centres across Wales. We take a look at what’s on offer.

Success comes in many forms and in this week’s Welsh Recruitment Meets… we talk to Jennifer Griffiths, one of Wales’ most celebrated entrepreneurs, to find out how she started one of the country’s leading recruitment consultancies from scratch and what it takes to make it in a highly competitive industry.

But success comes in many forms, one of which is satisfaction of doing a job that has a feel-good factor and the knowledge that the work you are doing has a positive effect on people’s lives. There are over six million carers in Britain who work tirelessly to support the relatives and friends of those who need help. We look at how one such carer, Chrissie Rodgers, made a huge impact in the lives of one family.

And, do phrases such as “Target driven” or “Results orientated” feature on your CV? If the answer is Yes, then you need to use the Delete key on your computer and get rid of them. According to industry experts, clichés are the biggest put-off’s they see on a CV. So, read our article on page 24 and make sure that you avoid using any more jargon and stick to the facts.

Along with a round-up of all the latest recruitment news including some great news for manufacturing jobs and continued regeneration of Newport, we also feature all the best new jobs on our region- naturally.

In the next issue of Welsh Recruitment we will be running a special feature on Graduate recruitment – help and advice to securing that first job after years of study
