MANCHESTER CHARITY WINDFALL
ABSOLUT PRIDE
This year’s Manchester Pride, which took place on the August
Bank Holiday weekend, raised an impressive £105,000 for
charity. The money – raised from the 18th Manchester Pride
celebrations – will be used to support various groups and
projects within the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender
community across Greater Manchester via the Manchester Pride
Community Fund and the Manchester Pride HIV/AIDS Fund. It
will also support the Lesbian & Gay Foundation’s ‘Free Condom
and Lube’ scheme and the George House Trust HIV Welfare Fund,
who will each receive a grant of just over £26,000. For more
information about the work of Manchester Pride and a financial

GAY TRAVEL COMPANIES FOLD
Two well-known gay UK travel operators - Respect Holidays
and Throb Holidays – have both ceased trading in recent
weeks: casualties of the ongoing global economic downturn, a
tightening of purses and higher fuel prices. Gran Canaria also
faces the closure of several gay-only resorts.
GAYS SHOULD BE TATTOOED
The chaplain of the London Stock Exchange has prompted
condemnation with comments he made on an internet blog.
The Rev Dr Peter Mullen claimed that homosexuality was
“clearly unnatural, a perversion and corruption of natural
instincts” and the “cause of fatal disease”. He went on to say
that homosexual should bear warnings, like those found on
cigarette packets. “Let us make it obligatory for homosexuals
to have their backsides tattooed with the slogan SODOMY CAN
SERIOUSLY DAMAGE YOUR HEALTH”. Rev Mullen, who is also the >WQbc`SROP]dSOb=ZR1][^b]\Ab`SSb]TT P`O\R/Pa]Zcb^`]RcQSROa^SQWOZ /Pa]Zcb
