Disney makes Asian appointments
Executives focus on growth of Hong Kong resort
Bill Ernest has been named president and managing director, Asia, for Walt Disney Parks & Resorts. In his new role, Ernest will
oversee the company's properties throughout Asia, including Hong Kong Disneyland Resort (HKDL), where he previously served
as executive vice-president and managing director. Remaining in Hong Kong, Ernest will now oversee the company's new
business initiatives in the region and the long-term strategic direction of HKDL.
"This promotion is a testament to Bill's leadership and his instrumental role in opening Hong Kong Disneyland,” says Jay
Rasulo, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. “It also underscores the company's commitment to international growth,
especially in this region."
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of
Bill Ernest
HKDL, which currently comprises a theme park and
two hotels, will be new managing director Andrew
Kam.
Before joining Disney, Kam was deputy general
manager and marketing & sales director for
COFCO Coca-Cola Beverages Ltd, responsible for
Coca-Cola’s marketing and sales functions in 14
franchised markets across China.
Kam is also charged with driving the growth of the
HKDL resort and has told reporters that he plans to
expand promotional activity in the mainland: "Both
shareholders are very much interested in growing the
business. They want Hong Kong Disneyland to be a
tourist destination in Asia."

Chinese parks capitalise
on Olympic opportunities
They may have been almost
2,000km away from the games
Chimelong Water Park
themselves, but that didn’t stop two
parks in Southern China capitalising
on the Beijing Olympics this
summer.
At Ocean Park in Hong Kong, 19
of the country’s gold medallists
visited to enjoy the park’s Sea
Dreams show and were presented
with a souvenir gold medal, a
dolphin plush toy and a VIP life
pass to the park.
“Ocean Park fully recognises and appreciates the dedication they have put in to
gain such high achievements!” commented chairman Dr Allan Zeman during the visit
on August 31. “All of us wish them all the best in their future endeavours.”
Up in the mainland, at
Ocean Park Chimelong Water Park in
Guangzhou, 1,202 girls turned
up in their bikinis to show their
support for the Olympics.
Witnessed by six notary
officers, park officials now
hope the gathering can be
recognized by the Guinness
Book of World Records. The
former world record was 1,010
girls, set last year in Australia.
