OCTOBER 9-19, 2008 HIFFMESSAGE

aloha to everyone attending the 2008 Louis Vuitton Hawai'l
International Film Festival.
Located as a geographical and cultural bridge in the Pacific Rim,
Hawal'i serves as an ideal site for the nation's largest "East-meets-
West" film festival. Since 1981, the Hawai‘i International Film Festival
has brought great pride to our state. Today, the festival draws more
than 65,000 people from across the state, nation, and world. We appre-
ciate the ways in which the festival uses the power of film to enrich
and enlighten audiences and promote cultural understanding between
Hawai‘i and our Pacific neighbors.
Mahalo to festival sponsors, members and volunteers for making this
exciting event possible. Our best wishes for a memorable event and
