FLOW — FOR THE LOVE OF WATER
GREEN SCREEN | HAWAII PREMIERE
The cost of having 10 liters of safe drinking water every day, per person is just $2. Yet there are billions
around the world who don’t have access to it. FLOW, the award-winning documentary by Irena Salina, looks
into the escalating world water crisis. Water is being privatized in countries, leaving the poorer people with-
out access to clean water and more susceptible to disease. Hundreds of thousands of people are being dis-
placed by dams, lies and false promises. Companies are pumping water out of areas around the United
States to bottle for sales, turning streams into mudflats and causing water levels to drop. FLOW visits
Africa, Bolivia, India, Canada, France and the United States, and looks into the question, “Can anyone really
own water?” And “do you really know what’s in your drinking bottle?” – Rachel Manuel

FOLLOW YOUR HEART —
CHINA S NEW YOUTH MOVEMENT
NEW CHINESE CINEMA | U.S. PREMIERE
The film explores the life and ideals of a new generation of Chinese, focusing on the beliefs, work and families of a
number of China’s successful independent Hip Hop artists. The group, spread across China, believe in old school val-
ues; self-expression, freedom and truth to ones self. The film further investigates the dynamic between the inflexible
political environment and a modernizing ancient culture, and the issues that are affecting Chinese youth: Chinese-
ness, geography, freedom, family, information, consumerism, wealth and individuality.

HALF-LIFE
AMERICAN SPECTRUM | HAWAII PREMIERE
While the world at large descends into a miasma of natural disasters and wanton violence, a quieter apoca-
lypse is sweeping through the Wu household. Each family member – single mom Saura, sullen teenager
Pam (played by BLUE CRUSH’S Sanoe Lake), and wide-eyed 8-year-old Timothy – is struggling to find his or
her own way through a world that is at best hostile to them and at worst indifferent. While Saura and Pam
oscillate between the extremes of emotional numbness and raging frustration, only young Timothy can envi-
sion a way for his family to move forward.
