Putting a smile on your face
Schwer + Kopka GmbH has just introduced its new line of process monitoring systems for fastener producing machines such as cold head-
ers, multi station cold formers, or thread rollers.
Schwer + Kopka says that these new systems take a completely new approach in making process monitors extremely powerful, yet simple to
use and very easy to install.
The simplicity in operation is obtained by eliminating virtually all manual adjustments that previously were necessary on other types of
monitors. In addition, the display does not use any text or language but
shows easy-to-understand symbols and graphical elements. The very few
settings are self explanatory and quickly performed on the standard
touch-screen. Two different models are available, the SK1 with a 4.3” black
& white touch-screen, and the SK3 with a 7.5” colour touch-screen and
Windows-CE.
Monitoring of the forming force signals itself is fully automatic and
independent of any manual intervention. The built-in software ensures that
every forming operation is monitored within the best possible limits. The
quality of the monitoring performance is indicated to the operator by means
of Smiley-symbols. If the Smiley shows a happy face, the operator knows
that the machine is running stable, and that all monitoring limits are
working at their best.
Special attention was also paid to making the installation of the system
and the sensor as quick and as simple as possible. Typically, the installation
can be performed by the end user.
