Milford Haven and surrounding Area
Milford has long welcomed travellers. It is believed to be the starting point for the journey of the vast
stones for Stonehenge. In 1802 the town was proclaimed by Lord Nelson as one of the finest harbours
he’d ever seen.
The fishing industry boomed in Milford and it was one of the chief fishing ports of Britain. The landing
of sixty thousand tons of fish in 1946 was the highest recorded; however, the industry has steadily
declined. Today a Fisherman Statue on the promenade reminds the public of the significance of the
fishing industry.
Today the beautiful Milford Haven is a busy waterway offering visitors the chance to sail, take fishing
or river trips throughout the year.
Milford is home to a buzzing
marina, with a variety of shops and
cafes along with a friendly town
centre and The Torch Theatre and
cinema.
