Special Pregnancy Massage at
Greenwich Healing Hands
B
ob Jensen, owner of Greenwich Healing Hands,
has received Certification in Mother Massage:
Massage During Pregnancy. A former Emergency
Medical Technician, Jensen trained directly with Elaine
Stillerman, author and founder of Mother Massage
who pioneered the method 30 years ago. Jensen is a
Clinical Massage Therapist licensed in CT and NY, and
has been trained in all aspects of pregnancy massage,
including Prenatal, Labor Support and Postpartum.
He has added special equipment to his office to ac-
commodate pregnant clients. “Standard Swedish and
deep tissue massage increase your blood circulation,”
Jensen explains, “but a pregnant woman experiences
an increase in fibrinogenic activity and blood volume,

due to hormonal changes. To lower the risk of throm-
bosis, a therapist must switch to a lighter and safer
technique, such as Lymph Drainage, when working on the legs.” Jensen trained in
Lymph Drainage Therapy through the Upledger Institute in 2007 and will be receiv-
ing advanced lymph training later this month.
After looking at all of the equipment designed to help with pregnancy massage,
the office added the Body Cushion System because it affords the greatest support for a
changing abdomen. “Client comfort and safety is my primary concern,” says Jensen.

Space-Age Device Relieves Chronic Pain
A
device no bigger than a TV remote, invented by
Russian space scientists for treating cosmonauts
and rarely seen in the U.S, is showing impressive re-
sults in Brookfield. Kenneth R. Hoffman, Director of
Complementary Medicine at Sophia Natural Health
Center, has brought the Neuro-Adaptive Stimulator
(NAS) into the Center, where it is helping to relieve chronic pain and injuries. For the
month of September this treatment will be offered at a rate of $50.00 per treatment
(usually $75.00), on a first come basis.
This cutting edge medical device analyzes the body’s nervous system, then
stimulates it to heal naturally. Inside is a mini computer. A painless 10 to 15-minute
treatment restores the body’s normal balance and pain syndromes melt away naturally,
without artificial drugs or long-term therapy. It has also been used for such conditions
as fibroids, endometriosis, and gout, to name a few.
The NAS is safe for both adults and children and is comfortable, effective, and
pain free. The only feeling may be a slight tingling or prickling sensation as the unit is
drawn across the skin. Most conditions will see benefits in 3 to 6 treatments, while
some more chronic conditions may take longer.
To give the NAS a try, call Sophia Natural Health Center at 203.740.9300. They are
located at 499 Federal Road, Brookfield, CT. Please visit SophiaNaturalHealth.com
for more information. See ads pgs 14 & 19.
