Hearts
job talk
By SIMON COX
FORMER fans’ favourite Jim
Jefferies has refused to
divulge whether he would
be interested in returning to
Tynecastle if he was ever
offered the opportunity to
manage Hearts again.
The Gorgie club have yet
to confirm whether Anatoly
Korobochka will be given
the role of head coach on
a permanent basis, leading
to speculation that there
may be a new man in place
by the start of next season.
Jefferies, who guided Hearts
to Scottish Cup glory in 1998
during a five-year spell at
the club, has been tipped as
a possible contender if the
position becomes vacant.
But, after another successful
season with Killie which saw
the Ayrshire side reach the CIS
Cup final and secure fifth
place in the SPL, he maintains
he is not actively seeking
a move from Rugby Park.
“I never comment on `
speculation,” said Jefferies.
“If anything cropped up
anywhere I’d be flattered
and I’d say whether I was
interested or not but I’m not
hanging around waiting for
somebody to phone me. If
I had to finish my career at
Kilmarnock I’d be very happy.

things can change but I’m not
looking for it just now.
“I’ve already turned down
a couple of opportunities
to move on from Kilmarnock
in the past because I’m
happy there.
“But I never look too far
ahead. I just concentrate on
working hard for Kilmarnock,
trying to keep them punching
above their weight.
“If that brings success,
and somebody else notices
that, then you deal with that
at the time.”
