The prolific Piero Lissoni was one of many designers responsible for
Boffi’s recently revealed collection of kitchen and bathroom concepts
The
roll-call of collaborations that Boffi proudly displayed at eurocucina 2008 read like something of
a who’s who in the world of design. Naoto Fukasawa, Norbert Wangen, Peter Jamieson, Alberto
Colonello and Neunzig Design were among the creative names brought in to add a certain something different to
the range.
Long-time Boffi collaborator Piero Lissoni’s Duemilaotto kitchen in particular stood out. It was designed to
emphasise the value of natural materials and as such combines artisan crafts, reclaimed wood, natural stone and
solid wood all used alongside more modern manufactured materials such as stainless steel and Corian.
The new solid acacia wood was particularly striking. It is heat treated but not stained and so it retains the
irregularity of the grain and natural diversity of wood.
The tiles featured in the design are hand-crafted and applied to the hood and some of the surfaces.
Alongside the kitchen, Lissoni has also developed a Duemilaotto storage system of tall units fully equipped
with drawers, pull-out shelving, internal lighting and compartments for electrical appliances. designer
