LAUREUS DAY SPONSORED BY
LIFE WHEN THINGS
TAKE YOU BY SURPRISE.
THIS WAS ONE OCCASION THAT TOOK
US ALL INTO ANOTHER DIMENSION.
The Laureus Sport for Good Foundation is an apolitical
charitable initiative that uses the positive influence of sport to
tackle society's most pressing challenges around the globe,
supporting projects on every continent.
Its objective is to help young people overcome the limitations
imposed by challenging social issues including poverty,
homelessness, war, violence, drug abuse, discrimination
and AIDS.
Its mission is to use the power of sport to address social
challenges through the support of sports-related community
development initiatives, using sport as a tool for social change.
There are times in life when things take you by surprise,
knowing that something amazing will happen, this was one
occasion that took us all into another dimension.
Walking around the Club we were delighted to see the
‘great and the good’ such as Boris Becker and son, Martina
Navratilova, Nancy de Laglio, and a favourite from TV, Amanda
Mealing from Holby City, as well as Hugo Porta of Argentine
Rugby Fame and the much loved Daley Thompson.
We were humbled, but delighted, that our Club could host
such an occasion, raising funds for the Laureus Foundation
under the umbrella of IWC, who were sponsors of the
occasion.
There is nothing more satisfying than knowing we are
helping others.
