Clapham’s Two Brewers is south London’s shining
beacon on the cabaret circuit. As the southern sister to
Camden’s Black Cap, it attracts the absolute crème de la crème
of performers. Dave Lynn, Rose Garden, Sandra, Pam Ann…
all are currently treading the ’Brewers boards, but we trotted
along on a recent Wednesday evening for a bit of ‘Double
Penetration’ from the original nasty girl from Spanish Harlem,
Miss Laquisha Jonz. LJ starts her shift DJ’ing from 10pm and
plays an eclectic indie/RnB/hip hop mishmash. She takes
audience requests but be warned, if your demands are not LJ
material you will be disparaged and verbally abused on the
mic! Unless you request a track by Steps that is, then she’ll
just take you out the back and bludgeon you will her size-7
Primark slingback.
Midnight is show time at the Two Brewers, so sliding out
from behind the decks, Laquisha launches into her unique
comedy-gameshow-live singing spectacular that leaves you

gasping for breath. Her patter is topical and includes spoofs,

jokes and commentary on all the current stories of the day,

but more than that, she is a social critic, and an effi cient one,

acerbic and devastating. Her video-aided gameshows include

under the burqa’ and ‘Female or shemale’ and are backed

up by powerful vocals of popular songs but with Jonzifi ed
