Web Applications was founded in 2000 to develop travel systems using the latest technologies
and is now one of the fastest growing companies offering systems for tour operators. The
flagship product, Tr@veller, is a browser based reservation system for various markets
including packaged tours, holiday park, villa and cottage holiday companies, coach tours,
tailor-made holidays, group travel and specialists.
The WebApp team has a good mix of travel and IT professionals and the Chief Executive has
a deep travel background, having worked with Thomson, Cendant and Welcome Holidays.
This experience has contributed to Tr@veller’s customer and marketing focus and its
undeniable strengths as a selling rather than booking tool.
The latest addition is called Babel, - a C# .Net web service that provides scalable cross-
platform interoperability using XML messaging. Babel was developed to deliver rapid plug
and play integrations of 3rd party systems to the Tr@veller family of products, including custom
websites, payment gateways, 3rd party product suppliers and transport options such as low
cost flights, car hire, and ferries. Babel is a flexible messaging system that allows
synchronous or asynchronous processing.
Most of Web Apps’ clients have consumer, agent and/or affiliate websites integrated into
Tr@veller via Babel, providing numerous routes to market. Some use Tr@veller’s integrated
content management system to store product text and images for internal use as well as
appearing on the customer’s websites with live pricing, availability and online booking. Some
customers use the web service to distribute products through third party websites such as
Travel Supermarket.
Tr@veller also supports Computer Telephony Integration (CTI) and call centre phone systems
can be linked to recognise inbound telephone numbers and retrieve the caller’s client record
and associated booking and enquiry history. The dialled telephone number is also recognised
to automatically track and report on advertising source.
The Tr@veller suite of products is aimed at mid to large operators and Web Apps has
customers as far afield as the USA and Australia. Customers include specialist tour
operators, such as Parkdean Holidays, PerryGolf, Leger Holidays, Attraction World, Peregrine
Adventures and Discover Travel and Tours. Hoseasons uses Tr@veller across all its products
– cottages, villas, holiday parks and boats – and for all its many brands including specialists
like Bowhills. A recent new client is Holidaybreak who use Tr@veller for its Camping Division
(Eurocamp, Keycamp etc).
For tour operators and specialist travel providers, Tr@veller offers a complete solution – a fully
functional and scalable reservation system which integrates with bookable websites, XML web
services and computer telephony.
