Travelwhere is the brainchild of Ian Champness, former shareholder and marketing
director of FSS Travel & Leisure Systems until it was acquired by Anite a few years ago.
Ian has something of an evangelical mission to see the reduction of what used to be an
annual print run of 400 million brochures. He acknowledges that the printed brochure will
probably be around for a few more years, but has introduced a number of “digital
publishing solutions” that will help reduce brochure production and distribution costs.
Travelwhere.co.uk is an online travel directory and affiliate marketing & media service.
Its BrochureRack database driven directory and interactive BrochureMaps make it
easier and quicker to find tour operator brochures.
BrochureMaps helps operators to increase their online reach and distribute brochures
over the Internet. BrochureMaps are simple and visual, letting visitors see featured
brochures in the map regions of the destination country with a direct link from the
brochure icon to view either the brochure overview or full e-brochure online.
Individual pages can be selected, printed or “stitched together” as a personalised PDF for
immediate download. A link to the digital edition and selected pages can be forwarded to
a friend for viral marketing.
Whilst primarily a B2B2C consumer website offering affiliate marketing to tour operators,
BrochureRack and BrochureMaps are of equal value to travel agents as they can be
customised to only show preferred operators’ brochures.
Looking to the future, Ian sees a need for dynamic and personal brochure creation to
complement the growth in dynamic packaging.
My Brochure Builder is a digital publishing solution that does just what it says - builds
brochures. Developed by a South African technology company called Offline Digital, My
Brochure Builder builds personalised, e-brochures for website visitors.
The software creates XML data from existing brochure content, either Quark, PDF or SQL
data, which can then be browsed or searched on a website.
The visitor’s personalised brochure can be previewed online and then stored for future
viewing, printing or downloading. The e-brochure “pages” have dynamic links to other
brochure content and can interface directly with the operator’s reservation system.
Key operator benefits include reduced brochure costs, much wider online reach,
personalised content and a more exciting visitor experience. Travelwhere is the official
partner reseller of Offline Digital’s products in the UK.
Ian believes both applications are unique in distributing online brochure content and
refers to them as “no disruption solutions” that offer fully wrapped options that will work
with the operator’s existing content and website.
The concept of holiday BrochureMaps and My Brochure Builder are digital publishing
solutions that are both innovative and “green”. They are also competitively priced with
options to suit all Operators regardless of size
As Ian says, spreading ink on trees isn’t a sustainable strategy!
