Cornerstone Information Systems

Cornerstone will be of particular interest to travel management companies serving the
corporate market as well as corporate travel managers. Cornerstone has specialised in
creating innovative applications that automate many of the most complex and time-intensive
aspects of the reservation management process. Cornerstone’s software is essential for every
profitable travel management organisation, particularly with the virtual demise of commissions,
the increasing complexity of the reservation process and the expansion of distribution options.
Cornerstone is one of the leading suppliers in this field with products that cover the whole
booking lifecycle.
Cornerstone was founded in 1992 in Bloomington, Indiana, USA, out of a need to improve the
quality of service provided by travel agencies. They have continued to develop products that
improve the travel organisation’s profitability, from the creation through the execution and
analysis of a travel reservation.
The majority of products are productivity tools which are available in a “software as a
service” (SaaS) model. They can either be used independently or as a complete suite. The
products include ResMarker, iQCX, iQCX Mail and AutoTicket. As the names suggest,
these help the agency throughout the booking cycle.
Cornerstone’s key product is iQCX, a workflow management, quality control and file finishing
tool that automates the costly manual aspects of creating and fulfilling travel reservations. The
functionality and business process rule writing capabilities are virtually endless and iQCX uses
customer configurable parameters to run its checks, which can be set differently for individual
customers and travellers. In addition, iQCX’s trip improvement functionality constantly checks
for better fares, seat availability, wait-list etc.
In addition to its mid-office product suite, Cornerstone’s iBank data consolidation and reporting
tool mines travel data from a variety of sources, including GDS and back-office systems.
iBank delivers over 120 standard reports and a virtually unlimited number of user defined
reports that allow agencies and corporate customers to view travel spend, trends, policy
adherence, profitability etc. Cornerstone’s iBank Analytics is a powerful, point-and-click
dashboard that lets agencies and their customers drill down into travel data for quick answers
to immediate questions. Data can be refreshed up to every minute and reports are available
online, 24 hours a day via the Internet.
The Cornerstone product set is comprehensive and deserves closer inspection. Agencies
averaging £6 million a year or above in corporate travel sales should find a suitable product to
help improve profitability. Large corporate customers with annual flight spend of approximately
£3 million would be interested in iBank.
Cornerstone has over 500 customers worldwide, including American Express, ConocoPhillips
and United Airlines. It has a European office located in the UK servicing nearly 20 customers.
