Comtec is probably one of the better, if not best known travel technology suppliers in the
UK. Founded in 1995 by Chief Executive, Simon Powell, Comtec is now a market leader
in leisure travel technology.
With an initial focus in providing travel agents with point-of-sale productivity tools, such as
award winning Comtec EasySell, the product range has expanded to include agency
management systems, e-commerce and tour operator reservation systems. Along with
supplier distribution services, the product set covers virtually everything with solutions for
national and independent agents, consortia, home working, online specialists and both
niche and independent tour operators. Its customers include Thomas Cook, First Choice,
Travelcare, Harvey World Travel and Hayes and Jarvis.
Comtec is one of a select group of companies to be awarded the prestigious Queen’s
Award for Enterprise:Innovation. It is also amongst a small group of travel technology
suppliers globally to have achieved Microsoft's Gold Certified Partner status.
Today Comtec has many point-of-sale products. EasySell has continued to be enhanced,
most recently with a dynamic packaging module. Comtec WebSell also offers a range of
E-Commerce solutions from standard white-labels through to bespoke solutions as those
deployed at

Comtec TravelCat, the agency management system, is used by most of the largest UK
travel agents and is also available as a hosted option for independents. TravelCat
incorporates a consumer self-service module for paying-off balances and other
administrative functions and also supports email and SMS customer communications.
Travel suppliers are connected to Comtec's systems via various methods through the
Comtec Travel Gateway.
Comtec Travelink is a component-based sales and management system for tour
operators, supporting both call-centre and website reservations. Travelink offers a
seamless, comparative, search across all types of travel product; including dynamic
packages, tailor made itineraries, individual travel components and escorted tours. It
includes integrated contracting, pricing and marketing modules and links into an
extensive range of 3rd-party travel suppliers.
Travelink is designed to streamline business operations with a comprehensive suite
of reports, for example rooming lists and flight manifests, along with direct interfaces into
services such as GDS booking, postcode validation and an account system export facility.
Looking forward, Comtec is continuing to integrate its technology components in order to
provide highly flexible services for both travel agents and tour operators. Travel
companies, large to small, should always check what Comtec has to offer. Very few
companies are able or are committed to investing in product development to the extent
that Comtec does.
